Başakşehir district is considered among the 39 districts of the Greater Istanbul, Turkey which has a population of 311,095 as of 2012. . The district is located in the European part of the city.
Başakşehir district in Istanbul is bordered by other 2nd level districts including Eyüp, Sultangazi, Esenler, Bağcılar, Küçükçekmece, Avcılar, Esenyurt and Arnavutköy.
The district population is mainly comprised of youth with people in the age bracket of below 40 years accounting for 40% of the population while the same in the bracket of 20 to 44 years accounting for 43%.
